WHAT IS A MANGAKA?
A mangaka is a graphic artist and writer who creates Japanese-style comics. Manga is a Japanese name used to describe a specific artistic style and form of comics that originated in Japan. It also describes a comic or graphic novel published in serial magazines or as a multi-volume collection. Many manga stories are also used as inspiration for anime, animated films, and television shows created in the manga style.
Shojo manga: Shojo manga is generally made for an audience of young women, often with themes of love, magic, and drama. These stories typically involve coming-of-age tales with friendship and romance.
Shonen manga: Shonen manga, created for boys, focuses on coming-of-age adventures with comedy and action. They also focus on themes of friendship.
•Seinen: Seinen Manga focuses on action stories for older male audiences. These Manga collections generally display more graphic and mature content and use stronger language than shonen stories.
•Josei: Josei, which tells stories involving complex romantic and personal relationships, primarily targets women as its audience. Josei manga, unlike shojo manga which feature simplified and more innocent relationships, can also have more action-packed content for mature viewers.
